    Description

    We offer a rare holographed imprinted carte de visite with a note by the famous Bohemian mathematician and engineer, Vienna, July 16, 1892.
    Gustav Adolf Viktor von Peschka (1830 - 1903) was a Bohemian mathematician
    Peschka studied at the Bohemian State Polytechnic Institute in Prague from 1846 to 1850.  He first worked in a machine factory. From 1852 to 1857 he was an Adjunct Professor for mechanics, mechanical engineering, machine drawing and physics in Prague.  He was then from 1858 to 1863 a Professor at the Technical Adademy in Lviv.  From 1863 to 1867 he was a full professor for mechanics, mechanical engineering, machine drawing and physics in Brno. Peschka was appointed Professor of Descriptive Geometry worked from 1867 to 1891 at the Technical University in Brno and his final academic appointment was as a full professor from 1891 to 1901 at the Technical University in Vienna.
    The main focus of his importance as a mathematician is his contributions to the establishment and application of the central and the listed projection.
    On October 8, 1888, Gustav von Peschka was accepted as a member of the Leopoldina Scholar's Academy.
